WORKSHOPS: Beekeeping, Pollinator Habitats, & Grant Writing: From Michael Fields Agricultural Institute- Wisconsin
Beginner Beekeeping – Saturday, March 14th, 2015 9am-noon Cost: $25; CRAFT members $20. Back by popular demand. Dan O’Leary has been teaching this workshop at the Institute for years. He is an experienced beekeeper and has spent over 30 years in harmonious partnership with The Bees.
Pollinator Habitats – Saturday, March 14th, 2015 1pm-3pm Cost: Free of charge!!!!! Instructor Steve Bertjens, WI State NRCS biologist, will answer all your questions about how to attract honeybees and native pollinators. Additionally, he will cover all the cost share programs offered by NRCS.
Grant Writing – Friday, March 20th, 2015 9am-noon. Cost: $40 for the first person on the farm. Additional family members/business partners attend free of charge. CRAFT members $32. This workshop teaches groups and individuals the basics of grant writing in applying for a variety of federal programs. Our workshop covers three topics 1) Developing sound projects; 2) Identifying federal programs and choosing among them and 3) Maximizing success in getting funded. The workshop builds on a 100+ page guide to federal programs, which is given to all workshop participants, as are a number of other handouts, and time is set aside to provide individual grants advising. The Profitable Homestead: How to Creatively Generate Income Without Leaving the Farm March 28th, 2015 9:30-12:30 Cost: $40; CRAFT members $32. This workshop covers idea development, business planning, managing expenses, creativefrugality and eliminating debt, family/relationship balance and seasonal income diversification. Lisa Kivirist is the author of several books onhomesteading, cooking and rural entrepreneurship. She operates with her family an award winning Bed and Breakfast near Monroe, WI
