Crop/Harvest Manager: Responsible for managing all aspects of field production; from planting to harvesting. The person in this position will lead and be actively involved in training the crew and interns to accomplish field related tasks throughout the season. Qualified applicants must have a mastery of harvest techniques and standards for organic vegetable production. In this position you will work very closely with the Farm Management and crew to ensure everything gets from the field to the customers as efficiently and timely as possible. Prior farming experience is required. Help create and oversee the crew that make the farm run and keep things running smoothly as a responsive, supportive, and directive facilitator throughout the season.  Year round salary with seasonal full-time hours. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Greenhouse Manager: We are looking for someone with a horticulture background who has experience in greenhouse production and has a beginning to intermediate background in cut flowers. Knowledge of orchards and fruit production is a plus.  The ideal candidate will have an interest in landscape design and loves being creative in the dirt.  Experience in plant propagation and care with excellent attention to detail is a must.  The individual in this position will oversee the seeding, care, and transplanting effort throughout the season and manage all aspects of the greenhouse. You will work with our management team and crews to implement the farm’s planting plans in the greenhouse and field.  Additionally you will participate in designing and maintenance of various garden and orchard areas on the farm as well as have responsibility for growing and harvesting flower bouquets for our CSA, markets and event venue. Experience is a plus. This is a full-time year round position with salary commensurate with experience.

Field Operations Assistant: We are looking for an individual with proficiency operating a mix of farm machinery with precision and safety. You will work with the management team to implement the farm’s production plans in the field, from field preparation and seeding to cultivation and irrigation. Aside from field tractor and irrigation work, you will round out your time helping with harvests, and assisting with the general processes of the farm. Seasonal full-time position, with an hourly wage commensurate with experience, starting in March through mid-November with the possibility for advancement to year round employment.

Chef and Food Educator: Part of Primrose Valley Farm’s mission is to not only “grow” great produce, but also to educate our customers about how to cook and utilize farm fresh produce. The person hired for this position will be on the forefront of food education for the farm’s customers.  The ideal candidate will have a sincere interest in local agriculture, food, vegetables, community education, and enjoy vegetarian cooking. The position involves developing recipes with seasonal produce for publication in our CSA newsletter and on the website, play a role in organizing Farm Festivals and conducting cooking demonstrations, food preparation for special events, preparing meals for the farm crew on weekdays, keeping event center and commercial kitchen clean and organized, researching and developing new processed products, and working with the farm crew each day to accomplish goals. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Seasonal full-time position, starting in the spring through October with the possibility for advancement to year round employment. Farming experience helpful but not necessary. Special events service, proficiency with Excel and Word, teaching or workshop leadership experience, are all pluses.

Field Crew: Positions run from April/May – October/Nov. (June, July, August -required). We are primarily seeking full-time crew however, we will consider part-time applicants to participate in transplanting, cultivating, harvesting, as well as contributing to post-harvest processing and packing of a wide variety of produce. Some previous farming experience is required for field crew positions.  This position is seasonal and pay is hourly, commensurate with experience.  Necessary Skills

Farm Interns: Hiring for 2013 – limited number of positions available

Learn organic farming skills and gain valuable experience! Candidates need no prior experience but should have a desire to learn about growing organic produce and are considering a career in farming. You will be an integral part of the crew: seeding, transplanting, weeding and harvesting, and packing organic produce. In lieu of hourly wages Interns are paid a weekly stipend and are provided room and full board, (food, laundry facilities, laundry supplies, etc.). In addition to hands on learning interns also are provided structured learning sessions in various aspects of farming and farm management during the course of the season. The farm is a member of FairShare (CSA coalition) and CRAFT providing access to additional learning opportunities. Interns membership in CRAFT is paid by the farm during the course of their internship.

Packing Shed Supervisor & Farm Stand Caretaker: We seek a highly organized individual with great communication skills to work our packing shed and to oversee our on Farm Market Stand. In this position you will lead and organize the post harvest processing and packing of produce at the farm. We wash and pack for our CSA distributions, markets, and restaurant accounts. You will coordinate, track and supervise packing crews and personally participate in the washing and packing process.  Retail experience is helpful but not required in relation to carrying out the duties of the Farm Stand Caretaker. Efficiency in time management and attention to detail is important.  Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and easily and weekend availability is a must.
Seasonal position: late April – early November. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and good attitude. Competitive wage with possibility for advancement to a year round position.

CSA Program Assistant: We are seeking someone with great communication skills and a passion for local organic agriculture to assist with managing our CSA membership, and our office. In addition to office responsibilities, applicants should have a desire to be a part of the field operations as well, participating in transplanting, cultivating, harvesting, post-harvest processing and packing of a wide variety of produce.  CSA Program & Office Assistant is a year round salaried position.  Hours in and out of the office will vary throughout the year.
