Winterberry Farm Internship in Maine

Winterberry Farm in Belgrade Maine has a opening this season 2019 for a intern. Winterberry farm is in central Maine one hour from the mountains and one hour from the coast. The farm was started 19 years ago, and grows vegetables and cut flowers. Winterberry Farm has a unpaid intern position available this season, for at least 3 weeks and preferably 3 months. This position is a education position where the applicant has housing included room and board on our certified organic horse and oxen powered farm in central Maine.

 

Included in the internship is education on growing vegetables, harvesting them, watering and weeding and planting, making flower bouquets, growing and care of flowers and harvesting them and attending farmers markets, caring for livestock that includes a flock of Romney sheep, chickens for meat, hen layers, turkeys, oxen and horses, all while living on a small 40 acre family farm. We are an 80 member three season CSA. We have a farm store with a commercial kitchen where we produce and sell value added items that we grow on our farm. We have a 2 week summer camp program for our community young folks, and many other community events.

 

We are looking for an intern that is interested in learning about commercial vegetable and cut flower growing, living on a family farm, and the value end of the farm. If you are a strong, independent and healthy mind and body person who is proud of the work they accomplish and is patient and understanding, we would like to meet you. We are a high energy family and we always have things to do, but also enjoy hiking and swimming and a bonfire after a long days work.
