Vegetable Production Internships in Wisconsin
Vegetable Production Internships in Wisconsin at Kings Hill Farm – 2020
King’s Hill Farm is hiring two Vegetable Production Interns from May to August (or if schedule allows, October). Interns will learn about organic vegetable production and play a valuable role in the day-to-day operations. Daily tasks may include planting, weeding, harvesting, and packaging vegetables and assisting with farmers market sales. Interns will need to be responsible, self-guided workers with a strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly on the job. Farming tasks are repetitive so attention to detail and a positive attitude is necessary. Interns will work individually and as a team and must have strong interpersonal skills. In addition to working on day-to-day farming tasks, interns will also learn how marketing, record-keeping, and bookkeeping work on a farm. Opportunities to tour other local farms is also a possible educational experience.
Some experience with farms or farm work and the ability to operate farm machinery is preferred, but not required. Interns must have U.S. citizenship or be eligible to work in the U.S., possess a current driver’s license and clean driving record, and be able to carry 50 pounds and work in variable conditions. Interns will report to farm managers, Dirk and Kjersten Oudman. A standard work week will be Monday – Friday with work on Saturdays as needed. Sundays will always be an off day. Interns will receive a monthly stipend and on-farm housing is provided. Interns are welcomed to vegetables produced on farm.
