A Vegetable Farming Opportunity on Land in Western Washington State – 2020

A farm moving to organic regenerative Ag in western WA near Arlington is looking for a farming couple interested in starting a vegetable based farm business with us.

The history of the farm was that it was a dairy, as are most farms in the area. It was originally homesteaded in the 1880’s. We purchased it about 5 years ago and have been restoring the land, converting to organic and putting various infrastructure like barns in place so that we can restore the land and nature (replanted about 15,000 trees) to its original state. We have about 1 mile of Salmon creek on the property that we are also restoring. We are running a BioChar facility with the primary purpose of restoring the soil.

The Principles we are running the farm by are based around minimizing energy use (diesel / gas), minimizing fertilizer use, & enhancing biology for soil health.

Vegetable Farming Opportunity: We think it is about a 2-3 year process to get this new business up to be able to financially sustain the couple we are looking for. During that time the farm will help you financially, The farm will be investing and building the infrastructure. You will be getting the production ag going and building the marketing side of the business (Farmers markets, Farm Stand etc)…

So what are we looking for: A couple that is looking for an opportunity, that are willing to work hard, with the right mix of common sense, creativity and character to shape the future. There are Personal Values that will we require, so what does we mean? You must be honest and have high integrity, hard working & be open minded, be willing to learn from mistakes & believe in what you are doing ie have a long term purpose.
