Stateline Farm Beginnings Farmer Training
- Winter Course Sessions (October 2019 – March 2020)
- 10 sessions of farm business planning, led by some of the most innovative farmers and experts in the Midwest.
- Field Day Workshops (October 2019 – October 2020)
- Training events on different topics, hosted at sustainable farms.
- One-on-One Mentorship (April – October 2020)
- Matched with a farmer-mentor in field of interest during growing the season.
- Last Session & Graduation Event (September 2020)
- Share summer-time experiences and celebrate the completion of the course!
Stateline Farm Beginnings program is limited to 25 students total, optimizing interaction between participants, instructors, and guest speakers. The fee for the yearlong program is $1,500; payment plans and scholarships are available. Full program details can be found in our 2019-2020 Information Packet.
The program fee includes:
- Over 55 hours of classroom time
- Course supplies which includes core books and a course binder
- One-on-one mentorship pairs you with a farmer-mentor in your field of interest
- Upper Midwest CRAFT 2019 & 2020 membership which includes access to 10+ field days, resources, online Farmer Directory)
- Entry for up to two people
- One additional person working on the same business plan such as your business partner, a family member, or life partner may take the course with you
- Complete the “Primary Application” and the “Partner Application” if you are interested in having two people from one farm business attend
Financial Assistance & Discounts
If you are unable to pay the full program fee, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship! Only scholarship applications post-marked on or before September 22, 2019 will be considered. We also have a limited number of scholarships for military veterans. Veterans please call or email us for scholarship information. All scholarships are first come, first served.
Early application is encouraged! An Early-Bird Discount of $150 will be applied to all applications post-marked on or before September 1, 2019. Application review will begin September 9, 2019. Applications will be accepted until September 22nd, 2019 and will be assessed in the order received. You will be notified in mid- to late- September of acceptance or denial.
