Spring 2020 Farm Funding Opportunities
This week, NSAC released an information alert for farmers and ranchers interested in renewing their CSP contracts. This information alert provides comprehensive planning assistance for those who enrolled in CSP in 2014, 2015, or 2016 and wish to renew those contracts, as well as those wishing to enroll in CSP for the first time. “With the first deadline coming up Friday, March 13, it is important for farmers to get started on their CSP applications if they haven’t already,” said Michael Happ, Policy Specialist at NSAC. “Farmers and ranchers have more work than hours in the day, so NSAC has put together an easy to understand, easy to use tool for farmers to write a successful renewal or enrollment application for the first time.” There are two CSP renewal deadlines: March 13 and March 20. For new enrollments, every state will have its own deadline starting after May 29. Check with your NRCS office for state-specific details.
With the FY 2020 budget in place, USDA has begun releasing funding opportunities for FY 2020. While a flood of grant program announcements is generally good news, with so many coming out at the start of a busy year, it can be easy to lose track of deadlines and other important information. In order to help you cut through the chaos and keep track of the deadlines that matter to your food and farm businesses and organizations, NSAC has put together a summary of currently active RFAs as part of our ongoing efforts to help farmers and advocates stay up to date with federal policy and funding opportunities. Open RFAs include VAPG, BFRDP, AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program, ERME, FSOP, and SARE. Read our post to learn more about these funding opportunities and keep track of upcoming deadlines.
