REQUEST FOR BEGINNING FARMER AND RANCHER STORIES: PLEASE RESPOND
In an effort to secure funding for the new Beginning Farmer and Rancher Individual Development Account program in FY 2011, the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute (of WI) and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) are soliciting stories and profiles of farmers who can address the challenges of being a beginning farmer, and the benefits they see in a matched-savings account / financial education IDA program. These short profiles will be posted on the NSAC website and used to inform Congressional Ag Appropriations Committee members about need in their states.
Farmers & ranchers from the following states are strongly encouraged to tell their stories: Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
To offer stories, information or suggestions, please contact Zia Brucaya of the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute at ziabrucaya@gmail.com.
