Register now for ‘Sheep School’ in Massachusetts
New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, in cooperation with the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, will be holding its second hands-on Sheep School on Thursday, September 16 at the vet school's campus in North Grafton, Mass.
The workshop will be valuable for producers of all levels, offering a variety of new (and slightly more advanced) topics so that participants in last year's Sheep School will find this year's version just as rewarding. Also, while last year's class focused on raising sheep for meat, this year we will incorporate wool production as well.
Topics will include:
- Grazing and pasture management
- Fencing
- Predator control
- Sheep behavior
- Moving sheep with herding dogs or gates
- Breeding
- Ram management
- Record-keeping
- Wool quality and processing
- Niche marketing
- FAMACHA and herd health
- Biosecurity and regulation
… and much more, with plenty of time for Q&A.
Registration costs $40 ($25 for additional guests) until September 10, when it goes up to $50. Registration closes on September 13, so don’t let it slip your mind – register now by clicking here!
