Project for Public Spaces Announces “How to Create Successful Markets” Training Course in New York, NY on October 23-24, 2009
How to Create Successful Markets will focus on four crucial elements to successful markets: the right mix of vendors and products; a strong sense of place; solid economic and operational underpinnings; and a firm commitment to the surrounding community. Through presentations, working groups, and on-site tours of New York City’s open-air farmers markets, indoor public markets, flea markets and urban farms, the workshop will examine the benefits of markets, ingredients of successful markets, market planning and management, partnership building, community engagement, and sustainable market operations.

· Friday, October 23: Markets 101 and 10 Qualities for Successful Markets presentations, Market Place Audit workshop, Business Planning, and Reception with PPS Staff
