General Part-Time Harvest Crew Job Description

Flying Coyote Farm is looking for one part-time person to join our harvest crew for the 2018 season. The Harvest Crew position will focus on all aspects of harvest and post harvest handling of the over 50 vegetable crops grown on out farm. Harvest crew members will participate in all aspects of harvesting, washing and packing produce for out three outlets (CSA, Restaurants, and Farmers Markets.) This position is part-time (15-20 hours per week) and runs late May-October.

*Flying Coyote Farm does not offer housing or meals for this position. *

Part-Time Harvest Crew Roles and Responsibilities

Proper harvest and post harvest handling of a large variety of vegetable crops

Time management

Record keeping

Washing produce

Communicating general crop health or other observations made while harvesting to Field Crew Manager

Packing CSA boxes, market produce and restaurant orders

Schedule

Position runs late May – October (possibility of an earlier start date and later end date depending on weather and skill level and availability of applicant)

Workdays are Mondays and Thursdays 8:00am-4:30pm depending on daylight hours and seasonal workload.  At times we may require crew members to work shorter or longer hours depending on weather and/or work load.  There is an unpaid half hour lunch break each day.

Optional weekend Farmers Market work for interested applicants.

Part-Time Harvest Crew Compensation

$10-$12/hr – Hourly rate based on experience, plus bonuses

Farm CSA share

Skills and Qualifications

General Requirements

Two seasons prior vegetable farming experience (specifically harvest and post harvest handling experience required)

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Have a valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation

Demonstrated commitment to organic and sustainable farming

Responsibility and Reliability

Ability to learn and to work unsupervised

Self-motivation to do a quality job in an efficient way

On time for work

Ability to commit to the full season (May-October)
