Organic Growers School is Launching Farm Beginnings ® in NC
Organic Growers School is launching Farm Beginnings ®, a yearlong farmer training course beginning on October 24th, 2015. The program is designed to offer beginning and expanding farmers the practical skills and knowledge needed to start and grow successful long-term farm businesses. Farm Beginnings® is focused on sustainable agriculture practices and is taught by established farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs. The course is open to aspiring, beginning and expanding farmers in Western North Carolina (WNC) and surrounding Southern Appalachian states – Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and South Carolina.
120+ Hour Farm Beginnings® Training Includes:
Winter Course – 49 hrs (October-March)
11 whole farm business planning sessions
Production Training – 55 hrs (April-October)
15 WNC CRAFT field days on sustainable farms around WNC
4-5 Field Days at the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Incubator Farm
Spring Conference (March 11-13th, 2016): 20+ hours
Three days of access to Organic Growers School’s Spring Conference, the Southeast’s largest grassroots sustainability conference including pre-conference workshops.
One year WNC CRAFT Farmer Network membership· Membership and mentoring in a regional farmer network
