Organic Farmer Wanted at Blue Sky Organic Farms in Arizona – 2019

Blue Sky Organic Farms is committed to the highest quality food cultivation and is known for the great care we take with our produce and employees alike. David Vose founded Blue Sky Organic Farms more than 28 years ago in California and moved it to Arizona in 1993. We are currently a 35 acre farm, though looking for more land. Currently we are farming for our local farmers markets, our store located here on the farm, our CSA, many local food venues and distributors, as well as processing the spring mix, baby arugula, and baby spinach we grow and shipping it locally and into New York. We have incredible infrastructure, equipment and employees, however we only have one farmer, and he is aging. Our integrity in the farming community is second to none. We believe in putting forth only the most nutritious, flavor packed, beautiful crops a buyer can find. We are committed to our local community and market as well as taking pride in being a shipper of very high-end baby leaf products.

Organic Farmer Wanted

We are looking for someone with a desire to make organic farming their profession, and offer them a position to work alongside David in the fields. We’re looking for an experienced organic farmer. Someone who is dedicated to their work, often working 50 plus hours per week during the prime part of our seasons (September thru June). The ideal candidate will have integrity, great attention to detail, problem solving skills, physical stamina and strength,

Requirements:

• 5 years row crop tractor experience, GPS a plus
• Knowledge of cultivation, planting, sprinkler and drip irrigation
• Organic soil fertility
• Spanish speaking a plus

Responsibilities:

• Field preparation
• Planting and cultivation
• Irrigation
• Pest management and spraying

The Location: The farm is located in Litchfield Park, Arizona, an area that is known historically for its cotton and alfalfa. We are centrally located to many things Arizona has to offer: 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix, 2 hours from Sedona, 2.5 hours from Flagstaff and 3.5 hours from the Grand Canyon. 5 hours from San Diego.

Salary: Salary based on experience $50,000 to $60,000 to start. Health benefits, paid time off, produce allowance, and fun. This job is open and will be filled when the right candidate is found.
