Organic Farm Apprentice Wanted in Maine
Winterberry farm in Belgrade, Maine is a horse and oxen powered farm, and certified organic 50 member csa. Growing vegetables and cut flowers, they have a farmstore with a certified kitchen, they raise Romney sheep for wool and chickens for eggs and meat and a small flock of turkeys. They are a 40 acre community farm, and they are a Forever Farm that they had protected 1 year ago, in the heart of the Belgrade lakes region.
They are looking for a summer apprentice, for July and August (2014) and possibly longer.
You must be able to work outside in all weather. We work from 8am until 6pm with time off for lunch, and then they cook and sit down together and have a meal.
The position includes room and board, they are a farm family and looking for a apprentice to be part of there farm family for the summer, you must be up for being part of a family, they cook together and spend time learning and farming together. they play music and sing a lot and swim even more, so if this sounds like you please let them know.
they go to farmers markets and make many flower bouquets. they make value added products in there farmstore kitchen, and design flowers from there gardens for events. By being part of our farm family you will be immersed in what we do and how we do it everyday.
