Organic CSA Farm Field Crew Job Description

Silverwood Organic Farm cultivates and distributes organically certified vegetables to local restaurants and markets as well as to our 100-member CSA, and on-site farm stand. Silverwood grows on 10 acres of privately-owned land in Sherborn, MA. We are committed to providing high-quality, diverse, and fresh produce to our community June through October.

For the 2016 season, we are hiring 6 Field Crew to help with all aspects of production and distribution.

Dates: May 1-October 31, 2016

Hours: Monday through Friday; hours vary during season from 35-40 and may include weekends. Part-time hours available in a limited basis

Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience, workman’s comp, produce from the farm as available

Responsibilities: The Field Crew is involved in all aspects of production and distribution, including greenhouse work; possible tractor operation; infrastructure and irrigation management; field prep; planting and weeding; insect and disease control; harvesting; washing and packing; and CSA distributions. S/he is supervised by and works closely with the farm manager and assistant grower.

Qualifications: One year experience working on a farm is preferred but not necessary. Additionally, applicants should have serious interest in sustainable agriculture, locally made products and certified organic standards. The ability to bring enthusiasm, initiative, and good humor to the intense working conditions of the season is essential. Also, applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, able to lift 50 lbs, and have a valid driver’s license.
