Online Post-Harvest Handling Class
A summer online class in Post-harvest Handling of Fruits and Vegetables will start on Monday, right after the July 4 (2015) weekend. There are still a few seats open.
This course includes an introduction to the environmental and biological factors that contribute to post-harvest loss of fruits and vegetables, commercial procedures of harvesting, handling, and storage of horticultural commodities, and specific handling information for commodities of various plant organs. Small-scale handling practices are emphasized.
The class is offered by the UMass Stockbridge School of Agriculture and earns 3 college credits. Classes offered by UMassOnline cost $371 per credit. For more information on the class and a link to register, see:https://sustfoodfarm.org/
