New and Beginning Farmer Workshop Series Michigan
New and Beginning Farmer Workshop Series
The Washtenaw Food Policy Council Farmer Policy Action Team will be hosting a three part workshop series geared toward new and beginning farmers on creating a successful business plan, knowing and understanding your financial options, and what you need to upscale your farm to acheive GAP and organic certification.
On Monday Feb 15, you’ll get a sneak preview of our workshop series at the, “Creating a Vision of Greatness,” presentation by Ari Weinzweig and Alex Young of Zingerman’s and Cornman Farms. You’ll also receive a workbook to help you continue visioning and mission building for your food/farm business for the first session on Wednesday February 24. If you can’t attend the Local Food Summit, we’ll also have workbooks available at the first session.
Our series will include local experts and farmers: Megan Goldenberg, New Growth Associates, Roger Betz, MSU Extension, Green Stone Farm Credit Services, Linda Rector, USDA-FSA County Executive Director, Tom and Vicki Zilke, Zilke Vegetable Farm, Richard and Diana Dyer, Dyer Family Organic Farm, and Alex Bryan, Michigan Young Farmer Coalition, just to name a few!
