National Letter Supporting Beginning Farmers and Ranchers
National Letter Supporting Beginning Farmers and Ranchers
The Land Stewardship Project circulated a letter recently to the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Opportunity Act of 2013 co-sponsors and farm bill conferees. 138 groups signed on to this letter in support. Read more below.
Dear U.S. House and Senate Agriculture Committee Leadership:
We urge you to move forward in a deliberate manner to pass a new farm bill. Farm bills are needed to provide certainty to producers but also to spur forward opportunities in the agriculture sector.
One opportunity and worthwhile investment a farm bill must make is in the next generation of beginning farmers and ranchers. Attached and below is a sign-on letter, supported by 138 groups across the nation, advocating for strong policies and funding for new farmers and ranchers.
Both the U.S. House and Senate farm bills include measures aimed at new farmers. We support a collection of those provisions joined together to create the strongest package possible for America’s next generation of farmers and ranchers.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Adam Warthesen
