MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR SETS DATES FOR 2015 Sustainable and self-sufficient living event adds new locations to lineup

Want to grow and prepare your own food, raise backyard chickens, or learn how to save money on utilities? Then mark your calendar to attend one of the 2015 Mother Earth News Fairs.

Mother Earth News, the largest and longest-running publication about self-sufficient lifestyles, has added an event outside of Milwaukee and has moved its Northwestern Fair to Albany, Oregon. Dates and locations include:

• ·         April 11-12: Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, Asheville, North Carolina
• ·         June 6-7: Linn County Expo Center, Albany, Oregon
• ·         Aug. 8-9: Washington County Fair Park, West Bend, Wisconsin, outside of Milwaukee
• ·         Sept. 18-20: Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Seven Springs, Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh
• ·         Oct. 24-25, Kansas Expocentre, Topeka, Kansas

The Milwaukee, Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, areas include a significant number of Mother Earth News subscribers, and the moderate August temperatures in that region will ensure a comfortable experience for attendees.

“When we discovered the Washington County Fair Park in West Bend it sealed the deal,” says Andrew Perkins, the event’s director. “It suits our model for the event well.”

Attendees can attend more than 150 hands-on workshops that cover organic gardening, food preparation and preservation, renewable energy, homesteading, small-scale livestock, green building and remodeling, natural health, green transportation, and related topics. Local and national experts on sustainable and rural lifestyles will lead the sessions.

In addition to workshops, each Fair will host children’s activities; hundreds of exhibitors; country skills, vendor and livestock demonstrations; and local and organic food options.

Currently, attendees can pre-order a weekend wristband for any of the Fairs for $20. Wristbands at the gate will cost $30 ($35 for Seven Springs). Children 17 and under get in free. Each event will offer a limited number of VIP lanyards, which provide priority seating at workshops, catered meals and other perks.
