This position is a 2-year internship in the excepted service. Upon successful completion of the internship, interns may be eligible for permanent placement with the agency without further competition. During the 2-year internship this appointment does not confer all of the opportunities usually associated with the competitive service such as tenure and transfer privileges. However, the selectee will be entitled to health and life insurance benefits, retirement benefits and leave accrual.
The incumbent serves as an Agricultural Marketing Specialist for the Accreditation and International Activities (AIA) Division, National Organic Program (NOP), Agricultural Marketing Service (AM). The AIA Division is responsible for the review and accreditation of organic certification agencies in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) and NOP regulations.

The incumbent serves as an Agricultural Marketing Specialist for the Standards Division of the National Organic Program (NOP), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). The Standards Division engages in rulemaking to amend the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances, amends existing regulations, and promulgates new standards.
