Organic Farm Manager Job in Illinois, 2013

Heritage Prairie Farm, 40 miles outside of Chicago Illinois, is now hiring a year round Farm Manager to manage 5 acres of Certified Naturally Grown vegetables. They are looking for someone who seeks a long term farm management position with a rapidly growing diverse company. This is a unique opportunity to train throughout the growing season. The new Farm Manager will learn and become responsible for: Management of seasonal farm crew in all areas of organic vegetable production, soil preparation, overseeing greenhouse work, executing weekly crop plan, determining and managing harvest, record keeping, writing of the annual crop plan and communications with CSA members Chefs, and other customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong management/team leadership background. Farming experience is preferred but is not necessary. Desire and ability to conduct manual labor, outdoors, in all weather conditions is required. Compensation range $25,000-$30,000 annually.
