An Introduction to Getting Your Hands Dirty – Crop Production Course – On Zoom and In Person in Virginia – Begins March, 2021

The Fauquier Education Farm and the Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program are now accepting registration for their course titled, An Introduction to Getting Your Hands Dirty. This is a six week lecture course on the basic tools and concepts of what you need to grow crops in the field. The course will be taught on Zoom, with two in person Saturday labs at the Fauquier Education Farm. The topics covered will be, Basic Soil Heath, Amending Soils, Crop Selection and Planting Techniques, Pest Control, Weed Control, and Infrastructure Needs. More details are on the attached flyer. Begins March 18th, 2021 on Zoom. Includes two in person Saturday Labs on Fauquier Education Farm in Warrentown, Virginia. 

This is a 6 week course to introduce you to the basic tools and concepts needed to grow crops in the field, with 2 Sat. labs at the farm.

The Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program (NPBFP) is pleased to offer, An Introduction To Getting Your Hands Dirty. This is a 6 week course with 2 Saturday labs at the Fauquier Education Farm and one farm tour. This course is intended for serious gardeners and Beginning Farmers who want to sharpen their production skills by broadening their basic level knowledge of the tools and concepts of professional crop production.

The program’s focus is on:

  • Basic soil health
  • Amending Soils
  • Crop Selection and planting techniques
  • Weed Control
  • Pest Control
  • Infrastructure needs
