Internship Opportunity in Washington State on Small Farm
Interns are expected to perform various farm duties including; feeding/watering animals, processing poultry, moving portable chicken housing, assisting at weekly farmers markets, assist in the farrowing of pigs and kidding of goats. Hours will be approximately 20-40 hrs a week Mon-Sat with Sundays off. No alcohol or drug use allowed on premises. Farm is located approximately 6 miles from town so having own transportation is a benefit but not necessity.
Stipend will be $100 a week plus room and board. The room is in our home and meals will be provided with the family. In addition to the farm education, intern will have exposure to selling at the farmer market locations. Also the farm manages one of the area farmers market, so intern will have the opportunity to learn the management end of farmers market. The farm also is in partnership with a local food store that they help operate and spend time working in the retail/kitchen.
Desirable candidates will be hard working and dependable. Willing to learn and perform heavy labor at times.
