Helping Midwest Farmers Access Land – NYFC Survey
New Survey Seeks to Understand How Midwest Farmers Can Better Access Land
The National Young Farmers Coalition and Land Stewardship Project are working together to better understand how to help farmers in the Midwest navigate the process of accessing land. We have put together a survey and are holding three in-person forums to provide farmers an opportunity to share their experience directly.
Are you a farmer in the Midwest? Please help us by taking our survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/midwestlandaccess. [The survey will be open until April 18, 2016.]
Our goal is to identify the land access challenges that beginning farmers are facing, what resources are most helpful to them, and what their suggestions are for areas where more could be done to assist them.
While the purpose of our survey and forums is to provide program and policy recommendations to help beginning farmers access land, we encourage farmers at any stage of their career to take the survey because we hope to learn what has challenged them or helped them succeed as well. The geographic range for the project includes the following states: WI, MN, IA, IL, NE, ND, SD, MO, OH, and KY.
Thank you! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Holly (holly@youngfarmers.org), Karen (stettler@landstewardshipproject.org) or Nick (nicko@landstewardshipproject.org).
