Who We Are:
Genesis Gardens Volunteer Farm is a diversified, sustainable farm at Community First! Village, a community built for the chronically homeless of Austin. We grow food with and for our neighbors at Community First!, cultivating and sharing it freely to build community, relationships and nourishment for those most in need of it.

Apprenticeship Program:
We are looking for three fall season apprentices who are excited to learn about sustainable agriculture in practice and as a tool to empower marginalized communities. While apprentices will get experience in all aspects of sustainable
agriculture, we offer several different specializations to focus on. Available days are listed. Required days noted with an
asterisk.

Genesis Gardens Volunteer Farm Apprentices can choose 2 or 3 days to total 8-12 hours. All shifts are in the morning unless otherwise noted:
– Annual vegetable production​: including no-till production methods, soil health, planting, pest management,
harvesting, washing and market stand coordination, and early season CSA sales.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Saturdays
– Harvest & Marketing: ​field harvesting and sorting, washing, bunching, and storage; CSA marketing and
management; Farmer’s market management; recipe and taste testing development
Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays*
Pastured Chickens: ​egg production, health maintenance, rotational grazing; coop construction and maintenance.
Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays
– Pastured Dairy Goats: ​rotational grazing, parasite & other health management, dairy planning and construction.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays*

Commitment:
The apprenticeship will run from August 14 – November 3. We expect apprentices to punctual, capable of working alone
and with a team, able to lift 30 lbs and work in the Texas heat.

Compensation:
This is an unpaid volunteer position. Genesis Gardens Volunteer Farm Apprentices will receive experience in sustainable agriculture, leadership, and relationship building. Apprentices also have access to vegetables and flowers grown at Genesis Gardens.
