Full-time Field Production Lead Job at Midori Farm, Olympic Peninsula, Washington – 2020

Midori Farm is a 29 acre organic vegetable farm located in Quilcene in, Washington on the verdant North Olympic peninsula. We grow high quality organic vegetables, garden seedlings, seeds and craft our own traditionally fermented sauerkraut and kimchi from farm-grown produce. We sell our produce at three local farmers markets, organic food retailers, restaurants, a small CSA and at our on farm stand.

This 2020 season we will grow approximately 10 acres of vegetables and 5 acres of soil-building cover crops. We use a combination of human and tractor power. While we have been in business for 12 years, this is only our 7th growing season on our new property, so we are continually building new infrastructure and refining our systems.

Full-time Field Production Lead Job Description: We are seeking an experienced grower for Field Production Lead. This person works directly with the farm owners to produce about 10 acres of vegetables and some small fruits. Duties
include but are not limited to; implementing crop production plan, leading field crew in daily tasks, assisting in field preparation, mechanical and human powered weed control, using row cover, daily problem solving, and lots of tractor operation.

Successful candidates for the Full-time Field Production Lead job will: have 3 years vegetable farming experience, tractor and or equipment operating experience, enjoy working with people, have a clean driving record, be able to perform repetitive physical tasks in all types of weather for long periods of time, be able to lift 50 pounds, love vegetables and the outdoors, work efficiently, be positive, calm, honest and kind. Adult communication skills are required. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour with a 40-45 hour, 5 day work week and an end-of- season performance based bonus. This is a full time year round position with opportunity for advancement. On farm rustic housing may be available.
