Flying Coyote Farm General Job Description
Flying Coyote Farm is looking for 1-2 people to join our field crew part-time for the 2019 season. The Field Crew position will focus on all aspects of seeding, planting, weeding and general field crop care, along with assisting in harvesting fruiting crops (beans, cucumbers, summer squash, tomatoes etc) and fall storage crops. This position is part-time (16–30 hours per week) and runs April/May – November/October.
*Flying Coyote Farm does not offer housing or meals for this position. *
Roles and Responsibilities
- Greenhouse seeding
- Transplanting
- Weed control
- Irrigation installation and repair
- Crop care – trellising, season extension, pest and disease management
- Bed preparation
Recordkeeping
- Cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds
- Various odd jobs (ditch digging, brush cutting)
- Seasonal projects (re–skinning greenhouses, care of existing infrastructure and facilities, light carpentry work)
- Harvest and post-harvest handling of specific crops (beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, summer squash, fall storage crops)
Flying Coyote Farm Schedule
Position runs April/May – November/October (with the possibility of an earlier start date and later end date depending on weather and skill level and availability of applicant)
Workdays are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:00 am-4:45 pm in the spring and 7:30am-5:15pm in the summer depending on daylight hours and seasonal workload. At times we may require crew members to work shorter or longer hours depending on weather and/or work load. There is an unpaid 45min lunch break each day.
Optional weekend Farmers Market work for interested applicants
Compensation
- $12/hr – Hourly rate based on experience, plus bonuses

General Requirements
- Two seasons prior vegetable farming experience
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation
- Demonstrated commitment to organic and sustainable farming
