UnderToe Farm is a NW Michigan project to serve the local community by supplying high quality, sustainably grown produce while enhancing soil ecology (under our toes).  We are located just 20 minutes north of Traverse City, MI and grow a diversity of vegetables, fruits, and raise pastured poultry for a Community Supported Farm Share program, Elk Rapids Farmer’s Market, Direct-to-Retail, and some wholesale markets. We are increasing our production this season and are in need of farm-field assistant. Field Assistant Needed:  UnderToe Farm is increasing their production this season and are in need of farm-field assistant to mainly assistant in harvest for the Elk Rapids Farmer's Market, and for our Farm-share (C.S.A.) program pick up days. This field assistant position on our farm is necessary to help build our capacity as a small-scale diversified vegetable grower in Antrim County. The duties and individual qualities needed for this position will be: reliability to show up on-time and ready for work when needed, an ability to endure all weather conditions, have a good work ethic, have  good stamina, willingness to try any task that needs accomplished, set priorities and meet deadlines, ability to maintain positive attitude on long work days, ability to think creatively to improve efficiency of any task.

To glean essential knowledge of organic vegetable growing methods and the raising of pastured poultry, take home fresh organically grown produce weekly, work in a friendly environment outdoors, and meet our great community around the farm while participating in on-farm events, etc.The jobs on the farm will vary daily but will field work involves planting, weeding, pruning and harvesting, washing, sorting and packaging of vegetables, processing broiler chickens.

Work begins in May and ends in late October. Maximum hours per week will be probably 15 hrs and flexibility of schedule will be very helpful

Pay rate will be $9.00 + organic vegetables each week

No housing is provided, and you must have your own transportation.
