Farmland Leasing Workshops
November 4, 1:00 – 6:30pm – CitySpace
November 5, 1:00 – 6:30pm – Middleburg Community Center
Join PEC at one of two free farmland leasing workshops. Speakers include state and national land leasing experts.
The keynote address will be given by Kathy Ruhf, Senior Program Director at Land For Good — a nationally recognized leader in farm entry, succession and tenure. Other presenters include Andy Sorrell from Virginia Farm Link, Katie Myer from Certified Farm Seeker Program, and local Virginia attorneys Mark Botkin and Steve Price.
Workshop Agenda
1:00 pm: Doors open and registration.
1:30 pm: Keynote address with Kathy Ruhf, Senior Program Director at Land For Good.
2:45 pm: Legalities of Leasing Arrangements: Mark Botkin of BotkinRose (Charlottesville workshop) or Steve Price of McCandlish & Lillard PC (Middleburg workshop) will provide information on the legalities of farmland leasing.
4:00 pm: Farmer and Landowner Panel: Virginia Farm Link and the Certified Farm Seeker Program will provide information on leasing resources available to Virginians, and local farmers and landowners will share experiences in land leasing.
5:00 pm: Networking Social Hour: Wrap up the workshop with an opportunity to meet landowners and land seekers. Catered appetizers, beer and wine will be provided.
The workshop is free but requires registration (links above) by October 30, 2015.
