Farmer Wanted in Connecticut
Farmer Wanted in Connecticut for Small Farm with Established Markets
We are currently looking for someone to farm our 1 ½ acre property in Waterford (New London County). The farm is located on a busy street between a middle school, a house of worship and a big chain grocery store. We currently have accounts with local restaurants (one of which is the Oyster Club, a five-star restaurant with 2 sister locations and 2 more coming online soon) and a local small grocery store.
I work a 40-hour job and farm after work and on weekends, which is proving difficult to grow our clientele and our production. I have no plan to quit my job at this point in time and would like to find the right person to help us grow. This person should have a business plan and have some basic farming knowledge, although we are willing to trade knowledge to help them be successful.
The farm has a vacant 2-bedroom house with a small attached glass nursery, a 1 tub, pack and wash station, drying screen, 44X24 foot greenhouse, drip irrigation, a 30-foot hoop house, quick cut greens harvester, 410 john Deere, a small tractor, tool sheds and many manual tools. We do not attend any farmers markets (Waterford town market was cancelled this year due to covid 19) but we do have customers that come on Sundays from 10:00 to 2:00 to our farm stand.
