There are two overtime-eligible farmer jobs available at the Organic Farm on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. This is a combined recruitment for:
- One Farmer 3 that is part-time and works 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) year-round.
- One Farmer 5 that is cyclic and works full-time April through December and part-time, 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) January through March each year.
The candidate pool established from this announcement may be used to fill comparable permanent, full-time, part-time, and temporary vacancies in the future.
FARMER 3
This position reports to and receives day-to-day direction from the Farmer 5 to implement and maintain daily, year-round operations of the organic Farm and to provide direct instructional support to the farm-based agriculture curriculum (Practice of Organic Farming). This position leads the work of student and/or temporary employees.
Salary: $1,586.40 – $2,107.80 per month of 0.6 FTE work, plus a full state benefits package.
FARMER 5
This position is responsible for managing a working organic farm including coordinating and overseeing all daily operations of the Farm and providing direct instructional support to the farm-based agriculture curriculum (Practice of Organic Farming). This position consults with the faculty to develop and implement the curriculum; supervises the work of the Farm staff (classified, caretaker, student, and/or temporary); is responsible for crop and livestock production and direct marketing including Farm Stand operations; and oversees and performs maintenance of the farm infrastructure (materials and supplies, greenhouses, equipment, irrigation, etc.) and the farm grounds.
Salary: $3,187 – $4,280 per month of full time work and $1,912.20 – $2,568 per month of 0.6 FTE work, plus a full state benefits package.
