Sunseed Farm, a Diversified Vegetable Farm in Ann Arbor, Michigan is hiring for two Assistant Farmer jobs

Dates: Beginning May 1, 2012, continuing at least until October 26, with opportunity for one of these two positions to continue through the winter at half-time and resume at full-time in May, 2013.

Compensation: $10/hour starting wage, with raises based on demonstrated skill, diligence, efficiency and initiative. Hours: 40 hours/week

Description: The responsibilities of the Assistant Farmers will be to work full-time during the warm season and half-time during the cool season assisting in running the day-to-day operations of Sunseed Farm, including all tasks involved in year-round vegetable and fruit production and marketing.  The Assistant Farmers will also be expected to attain proficiency in all basic and intermediate farm skills, and will be responsible for some weekend farm upkeep.

Excellent candidates for this position will possess experience and knowledge of organic or ecological vegetable growing, a strong, self-motivating physical work ethic, and a desire to discover the best and most efficient farming methods. Although all applications will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who anticipate a desire to work at Sunseed through the fall of 2013.

Sunseed Farm is a year-round diversified vegetable farm just outside of Ann Arbor, MI entering its third year of production in 2012.
