Farm Manager Job: Stargazer Farm near Portland, Oregon is seeking an experienced individual as a full-time Farm Manager in a salaried position. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of planting, growing and harvesting to meet the Annual Farm Plan for Stargazer Farm. The Farm Manager oversees the development and execution of the Annual Farm Plan and performs manual and skilled work in the area of row crop production including irrigation, planting, leveling and harvesting. This position will oversee and manage the Farm staff and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.

Additionally, the Farm Manager must have the passion and ability to assume a public role interacting with, and selling directly to chefs and restaurants in the Portland area, while developing new customer leads and business opportunities.

The successful candidate will possess at least five years of vegetable farming experience; organic farming experience preferred. At least three years of supervisory and management experience required. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance, familiarity with irrigation systems and excellent communication skills.  We are currently farming 6 acres with the goal of scaling substantially.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
~Generate and oversee planting schedules
~Organize crop inputs including generating budgets
~Monitor budgets and yield reports
~Design and implement systems to efficiently manage labor and equipment ~Maintain farm data for internal analysis and for regulatory purposes
~Generate and implement fertility and irrigation plans
~Review fields to identify problem areas and propose solutions
~Work closely with ownership to produce the highest quality products

Requirements: 
~Minimum 3 years farm management experience
~Strong organizational skills
~Strong computer skills, particularly Excel
~Excellent written and verbal skills (Spanish-English bilingual preferred)
~Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural field of study preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered.
