Farm Manager Job in Pennsylvania for 2016
Farm Manager Job: Family owned and operated farm and seller of 100% grass fed beef, seeks a farm operations manager for the coordination and execution of its small grass-fed beef operation, based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. This person will also be responsible for maintaining the 500-acre property.
This position is an opportunity to manage and build our grass-fed beef production company. We’re looking for someone with foundational expertise in grass-fed cattle farming and a desire to be accountable for the growth of a business.
Farming + Grounds Maintenance Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Ration preparation and cattle feeding on pasture
– Cattle moving, sorting and routine handling
– Rotational grazing system management
– Permanent and temporary fencing
– Daily record-keeping and data management
– Cut grass and trim shrubs.
– Remove weeds from fences.
– Maintain grounds equipment in proper working order and keep equipment storage area in a safe and clean condition.
– Remove snow and ice from all sidewalks and driveway as needed.
Qualifications:
Good communicator
Ability to work independently and without direction
Large animal husbandry
Machinery operation
Fencing
Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing
HS Degree
5+ years in the grass-fed cattle industry
Animal nutrition knowledge
Business Management
Start Date: Interviewing will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Compensation: housing provided, health insurance, company truck, and possible sales commission, salary dependent on experience.
