Farm Job in Michigan for 2014 Season
Seeley Farm has one full time job open for the 2014 growing season. Seeley Farm is a 5 acre, certified organic vegetable farm 5 miles north of downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. The farm produces a diversity of vegetables and annual cut flowers for the local farmers market. The farm attends market twice weekly from May through December. The farm’s primary crop, however, is baby salad greens which are washed and dried and packaged into 5 oz. plastic clamshells and sold wholesale. Currently 9 local grocery stores order these boxed salad greens twice weekly, in season.
They are looking for candidates with some farm experience and a basic knowledge of diversified vegetable production. Work begins in early April and goes through Thanksgiving. Schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays assisting at the market stand. The work day starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with a one hour lunch taken at noon. Workers are responsible for their own meals and housing. There is one available bedroom in the main house that the owners will consider sharing with the right candidate.
Candidates must be willing to perform all on-farm tasks including seeding/planting, cultivation/weeding, pest management, harvest, post-harvest handling, cleaning, packing orders, working market, etc. Hourly wage is based on experience.
