The Farm and Forge is a family operated farm with a working blacksmith on site. Farming by the principals of stewardship, holistic care, maintenance, and management, integrated and stacked systems, regenerative and rotational grazing; we focus on all three pillars of Sustainability including economics. Specifically we take a thoughtful approach to how our farm is being built; with inputs not only from our farm but from the surrounding community as well. We engage with the community to build strategic relationships that are mutually beneficial and close loops in our food systems. These opportunities allow us to turn waste streams from our farm and from local businesses into inputs for the farm which reduces the cost to operate the farm initially and even further more as the farm becomes more established.

Internships 2022:
We have Internships Every Season of the Year! We offer 3-4 month Internships that can be in a General Farming Category, Topic Based, or Project Based. A few Popular areas include, Animal husbandry, Propagation, Mushrooms, Microgreens, Social Media, and Markets. These are typically associated with a college/ school where the student is gaining credit for the experience or for a specific project requirement. Education and guidance is given around the student’s goals for their allotted time. No stipend is given.
Apprenticeships 2022:
A Year Long Educational Journey Into Every Aspect Of Farming. We Start you off with a 2 Week Trial where you become familiar with the grounds, production, and our staff in general. If Apprenticeship is offered you start on a month long education of general farming terminology, forms, techniques, tools, food systems, production systems, history, biology and much more. These are covered in formal settings and in on farm experiential settings. Room, Board, and Stipend are offered- Accommodations are in a brand new Multifunctional Barndominium for 1 person per application. (If you have alternative circumstances such as a family or married please apply and be prepared to suggest a solution…) Provisions of Food are offered from the farm. Access to Kitchen, Bathrooms, and Shared living spaces are provided inside the Barndominium. The 25 acre Farm offers a stream, and plenty of space to roam, explore, or hang your hammock. A Second Year Apprenticeship is offered to those who excel and would like to become a permanent part of The Farm and Forge Family. This Second Year offers goal oriented pay increases up to full time pay. Please have a Resume ready and available as well as 3 professional, non related(not family or friends) References who can attest to your work ethic, responsibility, problem solving, and how you respond to correction. This is a Fully Functioning Farming Apprenticeship that requires much physical labor, working in all kinds of weather, working with people, plants, animals, farm machinery and tools, attending markets, processing animals… ***IF you are selected for a 2 Week Trial you will be asked to pass a background check. We encourage Honorably discharged Veterans who can provide a DD-214 to apply as well as Women. ***You must be 18 years of age at the time of the 2 Week Trial.
