Farm Tour: Pony Power Therapies
Horse Assisted, Nature-Driven Learning Experiences. Pony Power Therapies is a non-profit organization giving special needs and at-risk children and adults a unique opportunity to ride, care for and interact with horses. Our riding and non-riding activities enhance individuals’ physical, social and emotional well-being in a safe, nurturing farm environment.

Farm Based Education Farm Tour: Queens County Farm Museum
Queens County Farm Museum is owned by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and offers kid and adult programming in composting, wild edibles, cheesemaking, food preservation, and vegetable production.
“Queens County Farm Museum’s history dates back to 1697; it occupies New York City’s largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland. The farm encompasses a 47-acre parcel that is the longest continuously farmed site in New York State. The site includes historic farm buildings, a greenhouse complex, livestock, farm vehicles and implements, planting fields, an orchard and herb garden. Our farm animals and tranquil agrarian environment provide the opportunity to leave thehectic daily pace behind for an enjoyable visit to a farm without leaving the City.”
Myco-Rise: An Edible Mushroom Sculpture Experiment at Smiling Hogshead Ranch
Salt Tree Art finds inspiration in the regenerative agriculture movement, where holistic approaches to agriculture generate positive impacts to the ecosystems and communities linked to food production.
Smiling Hogshead Ranch is an urban farm collective whose mission is to create a culture that empowers and connects our communities through ecology, education and collaboration. Smiling Hogshead Ranch is hosting this project within their Long Island City community farm.
City Growers at Brooklyn Grange Farm
City Growers harnesses the wonders of nature to increase environmental and food literacy, cultivate curiosity, and provide transformative experiences for urban youth. We use urban agriculture to teach kids about where food comes from and why it matters.
City Growers’ Farm Workshops at Brooklyn Grange, the largest soil-based rooftop farms in the world, gives students a new perspective on their city. Their full menu of educational workshops explore the intersections of health and sustainability.

Shadow: Preschool and Family Nutrition Class
Jorge Yagual is a Public Health Nutritionist with a skill for making nutrition education come alive for our earliest learners, and integrating sustainability into his curriculum. This tour will bring us to a childcare center in the Bronx, where we will shadow one of Jorge’s Eat Well Play Hard nutrition classes for preschoolers! Space is limited in this tour. More details available upon registration.
Farm Based Education Farm Tour: East New York Farms
“The mission of East New York Farms! is to organize youth and adults to address food justice in our community by promoting local sustainable agriculture and community-led economic development. East New York Farms! is a project of the United Community Centers in partnership with local residents. We have been working with youth, gardeners, farmers, and entrepreneurs to build a more just and sustainable community since 1998.”
“Our team of Community Educators (trained in partnership with Just Food and the Pioneering Healthy Communities Initiative of the North Brooklyn YMCA) provide cooking demonstrations, presentations, and gardening workshops to educate our neighbors about all of the exciting things happening around food and health in East New York, and how to get involved.
