Farm and Brewery Maintenance and Groundskeeper
Farm and Brewery Maintenance and Groundskeeper Job in Cathlamet, Washington – 2020
Three years ago, we purchased a small farm (Hattersfield Farm) and micro-brewery (River Mile 38 Brewing Company) in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and are now looking to add our first farm employee to help us build our self-sustaining farm. We have 90 acres of forest (~25 years old) where we want to build small cabins for people to camp in. In addition, we have 40 acres of pasture/farmland where we want to build a sustainable, organic farm, that can supply produce to our brewery’s restaurant, hops for our beers, and jams/fruits for local farmer’s markets. Our brewery produces over 200 barrels of beer a year, and we’ve won multiple awards for our product. We have a year-round supply of water, and want to install solar panels to be completely off-grid by the end of 2020. The brewery and farm are about 10 minutes from each other in the town of Cathlamet, WA. This is a small rural community next to the Columbia River made up of self-sustaining farmers, artists, and crafters.
The work would be between our brewery and our farm. We are looking for a reliable person who would be our go to for any equipment issues at the brewery and someone who can make keg deliveries to retailers in the area. Farm work would include fencing, extensive construction projects, irrigation installation, use of heavy machinery, crop production, and trail maintenance.
You must be comfortable with the daily use and care of power and hand tools, including saws, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, circular saws and drills or be willing to learn. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently and has previously worked on farm land before. Previous construction experience or experience in a construction environment is highly encouraged as many of the infrastructures we are looking to build are not yet set in place and will need to be built from scratch. As these are long term projects we are looking for someone who is looking for a long term position.
Compensation is dependent on experience. 30 – 35 hours per week. To apply for the Farm and Brewery Maintenance and Groundskeeper position, please send a resume to carisma@rivermile38.com detailing your past experience and compensation expectations.
