Entry Level Farm Manager and Micro-School Facilitator Job in Florida – 2020

We are a family of five with a 5 acre property in DeLeon Springs, FL.  Our property has approximately 3 sunny acres that are ready for transformation into an organic farm.  Simultaneously, we are starting an earth-based, experiental micro-school. We anticipate growing year-round and will include high tunnel and field production.

We are seeking an entry level farm manager, as well as WWOOFers, who have some or all of the following:

• Knowledge and experience in planning annual vegetable production.  Southern zones a plus!
• Familiarity in maximizing crop yields and produce efficiency utilizing intensive planting methods. 
• Permaculture and/or biodynamic farming experience a plus!
• Experience with nutrient management and organic pest management.
• Experience developing irrigation systems
• Previous work experience with CSA production and/or regional farmer’s markets
• Experience and enjoyment working with children as an educator or mentor

Farm manager position includes stipend, housing, and a percentage of farm profits.  Hours and arrangements are flexible based on individual needs.

The farm manager position is a long-term role for a self-directed individual or couple who is interested in collaboratively building a thriving business operation from the ground up while enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded community.  We are more interested in getting started than getting it perfect and trust that the natural evolution of the farm, along with our shared commitment and intention, will lead us to the creation of a robust framework that brings us all alive.

The people we seek will have excellent communication and relationship skills in addition to farming experience.  We view this partnership as an opportunity to build intentional community as much as to farm.  We desire self-aware individuals who know their own intrinsic value and sovereignty, and whose values complement those of our family, including: social, economic and ecological sustainability, holistic wellness, conscious living, and personal autonomy.  Preference is for people who are knowledgeable about any of the following: environmentalism, spiritual ecology, botany, permaculture, animal husbandry, native plants, wild edibles, handcrafts and traditional skills.  

In addition to the farm, we are building a place-based intentional eco-community and school.  We currently have a horse, donkey, and chickens, and have plans for goats. There are numerous climbing trees and a desire to build a zip line, tree house, natural playscape and giant trampoline.  We have begun hosting gatherings and look forward to many more, with a focus on making music, handcrafts & traditional skills, art, yoga & mindfulness, healthy cooking, martial arts, and farming education.  Our desire is for the Farm Manager and WWOOFers to integrate into these initiatives.
