Educational Farming Experience with Vermont Youth Conservation Corps
Kick off your Gap year with Venture: A Growing Experience
The Farm at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps
“Gap Venture “is a twenty week residential program that runs from June 31 through November 14 on the Farm at VYCC. Through this immersive, educational farming experience, students will learn to think differently about food systems and deepen their relationship with the food that they eat. They will grow vegetables, raise livestock, mentor youth, lead volunteers, and give away most of the food they grow to families in need. It’s a great opportunity to explore the world of innovative food systems and the beauty of a Vermont growing season. In addition to this important community service project, this program also provides an incredible “Vermont Experience”. Participants will engage with this beautiful state through weekly excursions: hiking, biking, fishing, visiting other farms in our region, and attending community festivals throughout their stay. Tuition covers housing in yurts, meals, excursions, and educational opportunities.
