Join the Dairy Together Roadshow – Coming Soon to a Place Near(ish?) You

Dairy Together, a movement to rebuild a viable dairy economy for family farmers and rural communities, will be hosting events across the country in the coming months. Called the Dairy Together Road Show, these events will educate dairy farmers and industry stakeholders about several potential pathways toward market stabilization.

The events are being organized by the National Farmers Organization and Farmers Union organizations from Wisconsin, New England, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, California, and the Rocky Mountain region, with support from the National Farmers Union and Holstein Association USA.

At the Dairy Together Roadshow these groups will present research on plans that consider federal milk order system reform via a structured dairy pricing program as well as avenues of oversupply management through an updated version of the Dairy Market Stabilization Program that was considered in the lead-up to the 2014 Farm Bill. Recognizing the urgency of the situation dairy farmers are facing, they also plan to unveil plans for short-term emergency relief.

About Dairy Together

Dairy Together is a movement initiated by the Wisconsin Farmers Union to help dairy producers work together to rebuild a viable dairy economy for family farmers and rural communities.

In recent years, dairy news headlines have been dismal as volatile milk prices and a flood of milk on the market have contributed to a downward spiral in dairy prices and the quality of life for  dairy farmers across the country.

Over the last 10 years, the USDA recorded the loss of roughly 17,000 dairy herds, cutting the total number of U.S herds by nearly one third.

Dairy farmers across the country are mobilizing in response to the current dairy price crisis. We are working on short- and long-term solutions at the federal and state policy levels, as well as supporting farmers’ engagement in their dairy cooperatives and the dairy check-off to find solutions in the marketplace.

We need to enact bold solutions to halt the loss of family dairy farms.
