Online Crop Production Workshop Series from New Entry Sustainable Farming Project Starts May 11th, 2021
Learn sustainable crop production and farming techniques with New Entry Sustainable Farming Project. Workshops are taught by the New Entry Farmer Training Team as well as guest farmers cover topics such as:
- Crop planning and field preparation
- Soil health and management
- Post-harvest handling and food safety
- Cover cropping and season extension

Throughout the Crop Production Workshop Series you Will Learn How To:
- Grow a diversity of fruits and vegetables for your home and/or business
- Identify sustainable agriculture practices
- Create a crop plan
- Manage a greenhouse
- Buy and maintain farm equipment and machinery
- Set up a drip irrigation system
- Manage soil nutrients
- Manage weeds and use cover crops
- Identify pests and implement pest management strategies
- Learn how to prepare crops for market and comply with food safety regulations
- Connect with agencies that provide services for new farmers
Workshop Details:
There are three 5-week long workshops in the series. Workshops will take place virtually with optional opportunities to work and learn in-person at Moraine Farm in Beverly, MA each week. Click HERE to register for any of the workshops. Once registered, you will be directed to a payment portal hosted by Tufts University to select workshops and provide payment.
May 11th to June 8th
Summer Management Workshop:
June 22nd to July 20th
Fall Harvest Workshop:
August 3rd to August 31
from 5pm to 6:30pm, plus optional on-farm learning opportunities at Moraine Farm on Thursday mornings and one Sunday per series
