This session is a precursor to Growing Hope’s Garden Leadership Training,a multi-day course with over 10 hours of instruction time taking place in February 2013. These classes focus on how to organize a group for a common cause and define steps for establishing, maintaining, and sustaining a garden that becomes a fixture of it’s community.
Gardening is a means to many positive outcomes in health, food security, service, and community enrichment. Groups that have participated in Garden Leadership Training in the past include: “Faith and Food” congregations with goals of growing fresh produce for food banks or parishoners; schools aiming to engage students in hands-on learning, science explorations, nutrition education, and connection with the food they eat; health clinics who want to engage their customers in learning to grow healthy food; and neighbors who garden together to provide their families with fresh, homegrown produce. Come to Growing Community and see how creating a garden with your organization or community could be advantageous, meet other groups working towards similar goals, and take the first steps towards starting your garden!
Growing Hope, located in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is dedicated to helping people improve their lives and communities through gardening and healthy food access.
