Book & Plow Farm in Amherst, Massachusetts is looking for an assistant manager starting as soon as possible (2014).

This is an exciting opportunity that has come up due to some unforeseen circumstances. Interested in working on a 10 acre vegetable farm that supplies produce to Amherst College? Book & Plow Farm is truly unique model that resembles both a school farm and an independent operation. More About B&P: Founded in 2013, Book & Plow farm is in its second year of production. We grew 4 aces of vegetables last year and have expanded up to 10 acres of vegetables for this year. We are located on Amherst College land and are very integrated with the college but we are also an independent operation. This means we get to work with students and faculty, we sell produce back to the school, but we are also in charge of how we want to run the farm and what is produced. We are committed to growing using organic practices. Maybe most important, we try to have fun while working effectively.

We are looking for someone:
-available from June to November (negotiable)
-with farming experience (preferably 2 years or more)
-has a valid drivers license
-is interested in being involved in a full range of activities that are needed to run a vegetable operation, in particular we are looking for someone who is comfortable leading crews, driving tractors, and building infrastructure.

Compensation is negotiable. There is no housing available on the farm however we may be able to assist in finding rooms to rent for the season.
