Allendan Seed Company, Inc. is located near Winterset, Iowa, which is an easy 25 minute commute from Waukee and 35 minutes from West Des Moines. Allendan Seed Company produces and sells native prairie grass seed, native wildflower seed, bluegrass and fescue sod along with traditional row crops. Allendan Seed is one of the largest producers of native prairie grass and wildflower seed in the state of Iowa with production of over 250 different native species and sales throughout the United States.
We are searching for a candidate that has one year or more of experience and/or a college degree in the agriculture or horticulture field. The candidate should have experience operating machinery (tractors, sprayers, combines, etc.) Have the desire to improve production of native prairie grass, wildflower seed and traditional row crops. Knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and GPS guidance systems is a plus but not required. The knowledge, desire and strong work ethic to help grow Allendan Seed Company will also allow the right candidate the opportunity to grow themselves as well. Self-direction, time optimization, strong work ethic, flexibility in job duties and good communication skills are a must. This position will require extended hours during planting and harvesting times of the year including nights and weekends. Having a flexible schedule is preferred. This will be a full-time position with a competitive wage, health and dental insurance, simple IRA, and paid time off.
