Student Organic Farm Manager Job at the University of Minnesota – 2020
Hi everyone, here is a rare job opportunity in the organic and sustainable agriculture program at the University of Minnesota. After 15 years under the same leadership, we are hiring a new Student Organic Farm manager. The UMN Student Organic Farm is a joint venture of the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) and the Department of Horticultural Science at the University of Minnesota. Closing date for applications is Monday, March 16, 2020.
The UMN Student organic Farm (Cornercopia) is a certified organic farm. The Student Organic Farm was in organic transition from November 2004 until August of 2008, at which point we received our first organic certification. We currently have 5 acres of certified organic land. Cornercopia remains the only certified organic land on the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus!
The University of Minnesota student organic farm (UMN-SOF) is a vibrant educational and production farm located on the UMN campus in the Minneapolis-St Paul Metro area. The UMN-SOF’s goal is to provide UMN students with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills necessary to produce and market certified organic horticultural crops as part of a sustainable food system. The SOF Production Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, production and marketing of all crops, budget management, and supervision of undergraduate spring/summer apprentices. The SOF manager will collaborate with numerous individuals across the University of Minnesota to accomplish the mission of the SOF. This is a full-time, continuing, 9-month seasonal position that runs approximately February 15-November 15 each year.
