Herb Farm Internships in Pennsylvania
Herb Farm Internships in Pennsylvania – 2019
Tulsi Fields Farm is a small 6th generation family farm in southern York County in Pennsylvania. Everything is grown in an organic method with respect to the native wildlife. The vegetables, loose herbal teas and herbs here are sold at a local farmers market and to some restaurants. Medicinal, culinary and tea herbs are grown here with a focus on Ayurvedic herbs. Tulsi is an adaptogen herb native to India and grows quite well in south central Pennsylvania.
Herb Farm Internships
Currently we are seeking a couple of interns from April through October. Shorter times are welcome, but looking more for people to work for the full season. About 15 hours a week minimum is expected. Interns are welcome to shares of the vegetables and herbs as this is a nonpaying position. There is potential for one paid individual that would require a minimum of 25 hours a week. Candidates should be able to lift at least 30 lbs and be able to work in all weather conditions. Experience is not necessary. Dogs are welcome but there is no fenced in area for them. Friends and partners are welcome to come visit the farm or volunteer for a day.
Interns would be expected to help with seed starting, weeding, bed preparation and planting, mulching, watering, harvesting by hand and potentially helping out at farmers markets and events. Ideal candidates would have a passion for farming and natural living. Someone looking to gain the experience. Willing to work with interns to learn the medicinal sides of herbs. Cannabis and hemp are not part of the medicinal herbs grown. I’ll be out there everyday working with the individuals. By the end of the season, interns would hopefully gain basic understanding of how a season on a farm works and be able to reproduce the skills learned here elsewhere.
