Sustainable Agriculture Groups Awarded USDA Conservation Innovation Grants – This week, the US Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) awards of over $10.6 million to 22 projects across the country. Half of the awards went to land grant universities and half to NGOs. We are excited to highlight three of our member organizations that received CIG awards this year.
FOOD SAFETY NEWS
Updated Resources: Food Safety Modernization Act Flow Chart Time is of the essence for farmers and food enterprises to make sure they know whether and to what extent they are affected by the latest Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations. To assist in making that determination, the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) has updated our “FSMA Flowchart.” Additionally, we have partnered with our California-based member Community Alliance with Family Farmers to translate the flowchart into Spanish.

NSAC is hiring! We are seeking an Operations Coordinator and two Policy Specialists to join our team. These positions are located at NSAC’s DC office on Capitol Hill and are full-time exempt positions. The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) is an alliance of grassroots organizations that advocates for federal policy reform to advance the sustainability of agriculture, food systems, natural resources, and rural communities.
NSAC’s vision of agriculture is one where a safe, nutritious, ample, and affordable food supply is produced by a legion of family farmers who make a decent living pursuing their trade, while protecting the environment, and contributing to the strength and stability of their communities.
