Windy Mesa Farm Internship in Colorado
Windy Mesa Farm Internship in Larkspur, CO – 2017
Hello, we are David and Victoria Czech and we are the owners of this beautiful 10 acre farm with open pasture, a barn, 3- 30×20 hoop green houses meant to grow only Heirloom tomatoes. We are a young 48 year old couple with the intention to learn and live a sustainable life and to create a wellness center for our community. There are 26 garden boxes that are 14×4 to grow a variety of vegetable and fruit. We have 30 laying chickens, 30 baby chicks and will adding 2 goats this year. We will participate in the local farmers market this summer. We are growing everything using organic methods and learning how to becoming certified organic.
David has a full time career so his time is limited for the farm. Victoria is full time farmer and needs help! We need two people starting in May till end of Oct. We are willing to start with 2 week stay at a time to be sure we are a good fit for each other.
On Windy Mesa Farm there will be gardening, weeding, watering, digging, etc. We will need help with the animals, collecting eggs, cleaning the coop, and feedings. There will also be some help needed for building a new fence around the garden and around the property. When it’s time for farmers market season, we will need help with harvesting and working at the farmers market. These days will start early and end late with split days due to the heat. After fall harvest, we will have to put the garden beds down for the winter.
Victoria will need a minimum of 6 hours a day help from our interns which includes hour lunch and two 15 minutes breaks. The living accommodations will be shared in our basement that has a guest room and bathroom. The room will be large enough to for two twin beds and each will have a dresser, but share one bathroom.
Victoria is a holistic health coach and chef so happy to prepare 1 healthy dinner a day. Breakfast and lunch will be the responsibility of intern, but we provide the food. We can work out dietary plans, but this home is not vegan. So if meat is offensive, this will not be the right place.
The Windy Mesa Farm Intern must have own vehicle. We live in Larkspur, CO, 47 miles from center city of Denver. We are close to Colorado Springs where there are many beautiful attractions and outdoor activities i.e. hiking, nature walks, Garden of the Gods, Cave of Winds, Pikes Peak, small towns with wonderful restaurants. Denver is a fantastic city with many attractions for concerts, restaurant’s, theater, sporting events, beautiful parks, lakes, many bike trails, and festivals. We have 4 indoor cats that rule the house, so those who are allergic or have any problem with cats need not apply. We are a fun Christian couple with good hearts. We only ask for respect during dinner meal time to give thanks. We are hard workers and expect the same from our interns. There is no work we give that we won’t do ourselves. If hard labor work is difficult for you, you need not apply. This work is tough and there is a lot of bending over and repetitive movements. We are searching for two interns that will take as much pride in the farm as we do and willing to do the hard work while learning. There will be days that hours may extend, but this is the life of farming. Spring is around the corner and it gets hot during summers here on the farm can reach to 95. We are 7100 altitude so the heat is hotter. We are surrounded by Mesa Mountains and of course breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. There is wild life everywhere, and we have neighbors with horses, goats, chickens, bucking bulls and Alpacas. Thank you for considering joining us and we look
